- Tc01274 Inspection, Maintenance & Repair Contract For Penstocks & Flap Valves
The works will comprise the inspection, maintenance and repair of some 31 number penstocks and 35 flap valves. The penstocks and flap valves are located within our surface water drainage system in outfall chambers adjacent to our main quay walls. Confined space entry shall be required for these inspections. The penstocks and flap valves are designed to prevent back flow at high tide and, when closed, prevent flooding from tidal surges. The penstocks may also be closed to prevent contaminated water entering the river, should the drainage system become polluted.
