- The Cellular and Molecular Therapies (CMT) function within NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) is responsible for the routine provision of stem cells for transplantation across England. We are also experts in providing development and manufacturing services for Advanced Therapies Medicinal Products (ATMPs). CMT also includes the Clinical Biotechnology Centre, which manufactures GMP-grade DNA plasmids and viral vectors. Our experience in the processing and storage of stem cells for transplant and the manufacture of clinical grade advanced cellular and molecular therapies, combined with our strong links to clinicians and hospitals, means we can help bring new and ground-breaking treatments to the bedside. The organisation intends to initiate a procurement for the supply of new and maintenance of new and existing cryogenic temperature data loggers for dry shippers. CMT receive and issue cellular products nationally in the UK. To maintain optimal cell viability, it is vital that these products remain within strict temperature limits during transit. As such there is a requirement to monitor the internal conditions of all transport containers used to move temperature-controlled products between facilities. Within CMT there are currently six laboratories that are required to issue stem cell products. These are in Barnsley, Birmingham, Filton, Oxford, Liverpool and Southampton.
