Request For Information (RFI) : Alternatives to Plastic Bags
The Scottish Prison Service (“SPS”) are looking for information on alternatives to plastic bags specifically to help reducing asphyxiation and ligature risks associated with the use of plastic bags within a prison establishment.SPS currently uses various plastic bags daily packaging/storing miscellaneous products/goods/materials within the establishments. SPS uses bin liners and bin bags across the SPS estate.Please refer to the table in the attached RFI which details the products SPS are specifically interested in finding alternatives for.SPS welcomes suggestions, proposal, innovation from Suppliers, by completing the questionnaire attached and returning to christine.hutchison@prisons.gov.scot before close of business Friday 30th January 2026.
