Abstract: The overarching aim of this project is to develop a Polyolefin Challenge Test designed to increase the confidence of the recycling industry to produce recycled polyolefin flakes to the required level for recycled content in the UK. This is a seven-stage process aiming to produce a dossier suitable for a reference for food-grade recycled polyolefins. This work is for Phase 4 and Phase 5 only. Phase 1 - Background history. Development of Challenge Test for PET and adoption to the milk industry. Phase 2 - focus on substances that can be introduced from the packaging. Phase 3 - focus on substances that can be introduced to polyolefins by the products that are packaged in them. Phase 4 - development testing protocol.
