Lincolnshire County Council has produced the Green Masterplan which works to reduce greenhouse gas emissions at the County Council, and also in the wider economy. The Plan is in response to the UK-s target to be net-zero carbon by 2050.
According to 2021 figures, emissions from agriculture have decreased by 12% on 1990 levels. Since this point, greenhouse gas emissions have remained at a similar level, showing a plateau in progression, therefore the Council must take action and introduce new methods to continue the decline in total emissions. However, the value of farming in Lincolnshire must be taken into account and farmers must be supported and encouraged to enhance their existing practices.
