Abstract: Care inspectorate Wales (CIW) is the independent regulator of social care and childcare in Wales.Part of CIW-s remit is to provide effective registration for providers of services and this includes ensuring that registration applicants/ registered providers have appropriate Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificates.CIW contracts out elements of its administration of the DBS process which requires a third party to provide a fully managed bilingual service to CIW-s applicants/ registered providers, deliver a process for checking the identity of the DBS applicant, provide helpdesk support and countersign DBS checks in line with requirements.The service will manage on-line applications for DBS checks including standard, enhanced and enhanced with barring list checks as appropriate.
