• The Council is the highway authority and tunnel operating authority for the 230m-long, twin-bore Weston Hills Tunnel. The tunnel forms part of the dual, two-lane A505 Baldock Bypass. The tunnel has several operational safety systems which are supported by a range of mechanical, electrical and other technology equipment items including, for example, emergency telephones, tunnel lighting, traffic control signs, CCTV, fire hydrants and pumps.
