- Description:
- The Council has a requirement for a specialist contractor to undertake window (core) sampling through the Hunstanton Coastal Defence promenade deck, as per recommendations of geotechnical investigations. Window samples are required every 25m along the 1.5km of the promenade to confirm the presence of voids and their extent. This will inform the amount of void infilling which is required as part of the capital works project. Some concrete window samples will also be sent for lab testing to confirm the concrete strength which will feed into the design for promenade works. Pencil cores will also be taken at 2-3 locations along the wave-return wall (Sections E, C and B) to confirm the strength of the concrete which is the same age as the promenade deck. Anticipated commencement date for works is February 2026. Outcomes from these window (core) samples will then be used for the detailed structural engineering design which is due to commence April 2026.
