Bradford Council is seeking suitable companies that will be able to supply and install a standalone bespoke solar powered system to provide off-grid power supply at a community garden site situated off Leeds Road, Bradford.BackgroundThe site is approximately 500m2 in size and includes gardens, shelters and a number of timber sheds mainly used for the storage of poultry animals and feed. The site was established in 2007 by a group of local professionals with the aim of mobilising the community in one of the most nationally deprived wards to work in partnership with the local communities.The site currently has no access to national grid power supply and are seeking an alternative energy option. The community group have recently been successful in obtaining a grant through the Community Climate Action Fund to support the goal of net zero carbon across the district to fund the supply and installation of the systemPurposeThe system will be self-contained off grid and powered by solar panels/storage batteries.
