596 - Student Virtual Internships
Over the course of the last year and due to the worldwide pandemic Aston Business School has offered a number of fully funded virtual internship places to its Postgraduate (PG) students to support students- professional development and employability. Originally introduced as a pilot to support global mobility and to help reach our target of 25% of students on our taught programmes being on placement, we now wish to send out invitations to tender and scale up the operation to offer secured and high value placement experiences on a much larger scale. This is to ensure that the ABS Master Programme delivers on its stated objectives of providing students with meaningful and valuable work experience opportunities. The aim of the internship is to offer postgraduate students the opportunity to experience working with real companies in a field related to their career aspirations. The ultimate aim is to help them develop essential and transferable skills as well as virtual work competencies supported by a comprehensive career training programme that allows them to stand out from PG students from other institutions when applying for permanent roles at the end of their course. There will be a careful application and screening process involving the student, school, the virtual internship provider, and the employing organisation.
